LeonardoMD's tagline is Always available. Always accessible. The applications are all web-based, meaning they can be accessed from any modern computer connected to the Internet. They represent a fully integrated system for billing, scheduling and charting.

The EHR application is called Virtuoso, and includes the following features:

  • Paperless Clinical Document Management: Flexible document management whether through transcription or going completely paperless; use specialty-specific templates and allows for evolution to fit the practice over time. Allows you to delegate staff roles for check-in, vitals, and labs.

    Accommodates progress notes and more complex hospital forms; pulls patient information directly from patient database to reduce data entry and errors. Lets you scan images and forms; allows for as much customization as desired.

  • Clinical Workflow: All aspects of workflow are viewable, allowing you quick access to routine functions. You can also track patient visits in real time, check-in to check-out.

  • Electronic Prescribing: Direct transmission of prescriptions to pharmacy. You can view patient problem lists, medication history and allergies; single-click application of favored doses; auto-check for drug-drug and drug-allergy interactions; incentive-ready for Medicare; SureScripts certified.

  • Communication: Correct routing of orders, auto-reminders for incomplete or overdue tasks; helps enhance relationships with referral sources; request follow-up visits, labs and give referrals via the SOAP note, all on same screen; E&M advisor computes charges and routes claim to billing staff automatically at end of note.

  • References current diagnosis and procedure codes (CPT, ICD-9, HCPS).

  • Auto-building of fee schedules based on geographic-specific, auto-updated Medicare schedules.

  • Easily scan insurance cards.

  • Checks payments against contracts.

  • Electronic Remittance Advice (ANSI 835) auto-posting of payments.


LeonardoMD is CCHIT-certified and ONC-ATCB-certified. As with most ASP vendors, LeonardoMD is a subscription service that can be paid monthly, quarterly, or annually depending on the amount of features you want.

Their pricing information is found in the website's FAQ page, but here's a breakdown:

The Professional Edition includes patient registration, scheduling, billing, electronic claims submission, Electronic Health Record (EHR) charting features at $300/month with a setup fee of $2,500 for 1 provider, and $500 for each additional provider (unlimited number of users and locations).

The Office Edition includes patient registration, scheduling, billing, electronic claims submission, and internal messaging (no EHR charting) at $225/month, with a setup fee of $2,000 for the first provider and $375 for each additional provider (unlimited number of users and locations).

The Claims Edition includes patient registration, billing, electronic claims submission, and internal messaging (no scheduling or HER) $150/month with a setup fee of $1,500 for the first provider and $250 for each additional provider.

LeonardoMD will work with an unlimited number of users, computers, and locations.

The Standard Edition includes patient registration, scheduling, document storage, and internal messaging at $75/month with a setup fee of $1,250 for the first provider and $250 for each additional provider.

LeonardoMD does not charge for claims submission, but there will be monthly fees from the clearinghouse you choose to use. The same applies to ERAs.

There is no charge for electronic patient statements, which may also be exported free of charge to a statement house.

Concerning technical support, a basic package is included with purchase that allows for three cases per month that will be responded to within one business day. Additional cases will cost $30 each.

The price for the Premiere Support Package is 10% of the total physician license fee resulting in technician responses within four hours and an unlimited number of cases.
